The solar energy is regarded the best renewable energy considering the global warming and the high oil price trends, and the production of solar cell is remarkably being increased year by year. More than 90% of photovoltaic modules (solar cell modules) currently manufactured are based on crystalline silicon wafers. But due to the new demand of market including the low production cost & high production volume, and high light-electric energy conversion rate, several kinds of high efficiency cells such as Thin-film solar cell(TFS), Buried contact solar cell(BCSC) and Metal-& Emitter wrap-through solar cell(MWT/EWT cell), have been developed and made practicable to use. The common feature of these high efficiency cells is the use of lasers in the cell manufacturing process. The types of laser application include: cutting silicon wafers, cutting grooved in the wafer surface as part of the front grid electrical contact, and heat treatment of thin multi-lasers on the rear cell surface to form the rear contact. And lasers are also extensively used in all thin-film solar cell technologies. This article describes the feature of fiber laser, recently considered as the next-generation laser, and its examples for the applications on the solar cell manufacturing process
