A Study on the Introduction and Utilization Plan of a Bank's Guarantee System under Global Electronic Trade

Electronic Trade has been introducing into around the world to improves the efficiency of trade transaction by simplifying and automating the transaction procedures in international trade. However, e-Trade still not being revitalized despite a landmark development of e-Trading System. It has been attributed to a feeling of uneasiness and inconvenience of e-Trade System, the questions about improving the efficiencies of e-Trade, the risks of electronic transaction, etc. Tthe bank's guarantee system need to be introduced and applied to electronic trade as a way to resolve these problems which may arise in electronic trade transactions. In particular, the standby letter of credit as a protective device against a default or defective performance has been used over the years because of the versatility of the credit in legal transaction. The development of business models based on bank guarantees is expected to help revitalize electronic trade by eliminating the above uncertainties and risks of electronic transactions. So, This paper reviewed the general mechanism of bank guarantee system, specifically the utilization plan of the standby letter of credit under global e-Trade environment.
