Wallace Stevens’s poetry is the kind of poems of the act of the mind and the supreme fiction. He creates a supreme fiction as a replacement for god. He sees the world as an ever-changing reality and he tries to create it through his imagination. Even though his endeavor is not perfect, it is worth being recognized by us. This paper focuses on the importance of place and the unity of person and place. Crispin, the protagonist, who lives in this world, departs to find his new intelligence. In this case intelligence means a fixed myth which cannot see reality as things as they are, so this fixed myth should be deleted. Stevens says the poet must resist the old intelligence almost successfully. Crispin experiences many things as a realist, romanticist and fatalist. His journey ends when he gets married and has four daughters. In the long run, he unifies with the place in which he lives.
