‘샛별 유치원’의 교사들 사이에서 이루어지는 열린 의사소통의 의미

The Meaning of Open Communication among Teachers at ‘Sat-byul’ Kindergarten

본 연구는 개인 심충면담과 그룹 포커스면담 방법을 통해 ‘샛별 유치원’의 교사들 사이에서 이루어지고 있는 의사소통을 고찰하였다. 같은 유치원에 재직하는 교사들의 의사소통 방법을 자신들만의 언어로 재해석하고 의미를 부여하는 면담연구를 하였다. 연구 결과, 샛별 유치원의 교사들은 첫째, 열린 의사소통의 근본 의미로 유치원의 분위기를 꼽았는데, 잔잔한 물이 깊은 것처럼 유치원의 전통을 바탕으로 한 안정적인 신뢰감이 바탕이라고 하였다. 둘째, 도깨비도 수풀이 있어야 모인다고 했듯이 샛별 유치원 교사들은 교사실에 특별한 의미를 두고 있었다. 그들에게 교사실은 열린 공간으로서 의사소통을 돕는 장소로 거듭나고 있었으며, 교사실이라는 공간 자체가 열린 의사소통으로 해석될 수 있는 주요 의미였다. 셋째, 길을 알면 앞서가듯이 모범을 보이는 태도로 교사들 사이에서는 보여주는 열린 의사소통을 하고 있었다. 서로에게 몸으로 비언어적인 의사소통을 하는 것이다. 넷째, 교사들의 대화방식은 가는 말이 고우니 오는 말도 곱다고 했듯이 서로 배려하고 타인의 입장에서 열린 의사소통을 하는 것으로 드러났다. 샛별 유치원에서의 유아교사의 삶은 직접적으로 유아들에게 영향을 미치기에, 교사들 사이에서의 열린 의사소통에 대한 의미를 되짚어 보는 것은 진정한 유아교육을 이룰 수 있는 첫걸음이 될 것이다. 동시에 샛별 유치원 교사 사이에 형성되어 있는 열린 의사소통의 의미를 드러내는 작업은 교사들 사이의 공동 학습체 형성에 밑거름이 될 것이다.

This paper examines the mutual understanding among the teachers at Sat-byul Kindergarten. which is analyzed by several in-depth personal interviews and a focus group interview.(For this the results of several in-depth personal interviews and a focus group interview were analyzed. During the interviews interviewees, the teachers, reinterpreted and gave definitions to the mutual understanding among the teachers at their kindergartens by their own words. The result of this study is that, for the first, the atmosphere of Sat-byul Kindergarten is stable and well-balanced on the basis of its tradition. This is the fundamental meaning of open communication. The second result demonstrated that for teachers at Sat-byul Kindergarten a teachers’room is an open place that helps their harmonious mutual understanding and has a sense of openness by itself. The third result of the study is that the teachers have had open communication, which sets a good example. Being aware of the right way, they had been going in advance. The fourth result of the study revealed that teachers’ way of conversation is alike with the saying, ‘What goes around comes around.’ They are considerate of other teachers’ feelings and put themselves in another’s place when they communicate Considering the meaning of open communication would be the first step to establish true preschool education, since character and personality of preschool teachers at Sat-byul Kindergarten affect the child immediately and directly. Simultaneously, the task of researching the meaning of open communication among the teachers at Sat-byul Kindergarten would be the foundation of teachers’ learning community.
