데스메막의 박리는 보통 선천적 녹내장, 출생시 손상, 원추각막, 구형각막, Terrien`s marginal degeneration, 수술적 또는 우연한 외상으로 인하여 일어날 수 있다. 데스메막의 박리의 가장 흔한 원인은 안구내 수술로 인한 합병증이다. 저자들은 수년 전부터 서서히 진행된 좌안의 시력저하를 호소하는 56세 여자 환자에서 안구내 수술, 안구의 외상이나 임상적으로 이와 연관된 질병의 과거력이 없는 자연발생적인 데스메막의 박리를 경험하였고 문헌 고찰과 함께 이를 보고한다(한안지 38:499~503, 1997).
Detachment of Descemet`s membrane may occur in congenital glaucoma, birth trauma, keratoconus, keratoglobus, Terrien`s marginal degeneration, surgical and accidental traumas. Most common cause of spontaneous Descemet`s membrane detachment in a 56-year-old female who was visited complaining of decreased visual acuity in her left eye of several year`s duration. She has not had previous intraocular surgery, trauma and associated disease clinically. We report this case with available literature survey(J Korea Ophthalmol Soc 38:499~503, 1997).
