어린이집 원장의 교직경험 이야기

The Stories of a Child-Care Center Principal's Teaching Experiences

본 연구의 목적은 어린이집 원장의 교직경험을 살펴보고 그러한 경험이 원장으로서의 삶에 어떠한 의미를 주는가를 알아보는 것이다. 한 어린이집 원장이 20여 년간 써 온 개인적 저널을 주 자료로 사용하여 생애사적 접근을 하였다. 예비교사, 초임교사, 경력교사 시절로 나누어 각 경력 단계에서 독특하게 드러나는 경험을 기술하였다. 교사로서의 위치와 경력이 달라짐으로써 어린이집 원장의 유아교육관이나 주변사람들을 보는 시각, 그들과의 관계가 변화되었음을 찾아냈다. 그러한 교직경험은 어린이집 원장에게 ‘좋은 유아교사’에 대한 의미의 재구축 과정이었으며, 원장 역할에 대한 성찰적 과정이었다. 본 연구는 유아교육기관장으로서의 삶에서 이론적 지식뿐만 아니라 현장경험을 통해 얻은 실천적 지식이 중요한 역할을 한다는 사실을 강조한다.

This study aims to explore the teaching experiences of the principal of a child-care center, through her experiences as an early childhood teacher. Life history method was used for this research study. The diaries which the principal has written for 20years were analyzed. Also, diary from the work place, memos, letters, and pictures were used as data. The data were analyzed focusing on important events, peop peo places, and i eas which influenced the life of the principal as an early childhood teacher. The results of the study are presented according to the different periods in her teaching career such as pre-service teacher, novice teacher, experienced teacher. Looking back of her own teaching experiences provided the child-care center principal with the opportunities to reconstruct the meaning of “a good early childhood teacher" and to reflect of her role as a principal. This study emphasized the role of the personal practical knowledge in the lives of principal of early childhood institute.
