The purpose of this study is to provide an elaborate information in relation to hairs. For the purpose, this researcher compared and analyzed in professional, profound ways hairdo styles that were in fashion in Joseon of the 17th to 18th centuries and in the West of the Baroque and Rococo periods. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, in the 17th and 18th centuries, people of Joseon was under Confucianism-based social position system. In Europe, while, absolutism, represented by Louis XIV, held hegemony. Second, concerning hairdo styles, in Joseon, the styles were different depending on social position. In the West, more and more people wore a rich wig as the Rococo age came nearer. Third, regarding hairdo, in Joseon, black hairs were preferred, but in Europe, colored hairs. Fourth, courtesy, moderation and naturalness could explain hairdo styles of the Joseon period and courtesy, adornment and elegance, those of the Baroque and Rococo eras.
