압록강~청천강유역 무문토기 편년과 남한

Chronology of the Mumun Pottery in Northwestern and South Korea of the Korean Peninsula

남한 무문토기의 연구에는 늘 북한의 영향이 언급되어 왔음에도 불구하고, 한반도 전체를 포괄하는 편년 연구는 대단히 미진하다고 할 수 있다. 이로 인해 한반도 내의 문제에 머무르지 않고 동북아시아 선사문화의 연구에서 남한이 소외될 우려조차 없지 않다. 이를 방지하고 극복하기 위해서라도 남한 무문토기시대의 시작과 관련이 깊었던 한반도 서북지역의 무문토기 편년을 충실하게 검토할 필요가 있고, 또 그 결과가 남한의 편년과는 어떻게 대비될 수 있는지도 검토해야 할 것이다. 압록강하류역의 신암리 Ⅱ기는 분기의 가능성 및 그 시간폭을 넓게 고려할 필요가 있고, 신암리 Ⅱ와 Ⅲ 사이는 공백 없이 연속하는 시기로 판단된다. 압록강중류역은 심귀리와 공귀리유적의 유구와 유물에서 두 단계로 편년되며, 각각 신암리 Ⅱ 및 Ⅲ과 병행한다. 청천강유역은 당산상층, 세죽리 Ⅱ₁·구룡강 Ⅰ, 세죽리 Ⅱ₂·구룡강 Ⅱ의 순서로 상대편년 되며, 당산상층은 신암리3-1과 신암리 Ⅱ 사이에 해당하고 세죽리 Ⅱ₁·구룡강 Ⅰ은 신암리 Ⅱ와 병행한다. 이를 남한과 대비해 보면, 신암리 Ⅱ의 후반-新式-은 남한의 전기전반까지 내려올 수 있는데, 최근 남한에서 전기의 돌대문토기가 상당수 확인되는 점과도 모순되지 않는다. 또 청천강유역의 이중구연각목문토기에서 가락동식토기의 성립도 조기로 올려볼 수 있다고 생각한다. 남한 무문토기의 성립에 가장 큰 영향력을 발휘했던 서북지역 무문토기의 편년을 안정화시키면서 남한의 조기~전기와 잘 대비할 수 있다면, 이는 한반도 전체를 대상으로 한 무문토기시대 편년의 한 축이 될 수도 있을 것이다.

Although we research the mumun pottery which have always been told influence of the North Korea, chronology of the mumun pottery including the whole Korean Peninsula seems to be still unsatisfactory and incomplete. As a result of this, it would be not only the problem of the Korean Peninsula inside but also the one of prehistoric culture research in Northeast Asia. In order to prevent and overcome this situation, it is necessary to examine thoroughly the chronology of the Northwestern Mumun pottery of the Korean Peninsula closely related with the beginning of the South Korean Mumun Period. Moreover, its result should be scrutinized how it can be contrasted with the South Korean chronology. The Sinam-riⅡ Era at the downstream of Amnok River is required to consider divergence of dating and it seems that the era between the Sinam-riⅡ and Sinam-riⅢ is continuous without blank space. The midstream of Amnok River is dated as two levels judging from the features and artifacts of the Simgwi-ri and Gonggwi-ri sites and they keep pace with Sinam-riⅡ and Sinam-riⅢ each other. The Cheongchen River area is relatively dated as an order of Dangsan Upper Layer, Sejuk-riⅡ1 and GuryonggangⅠ, Sejuk-riⅡ2 and GuryonggangⅡ. Dangsan Upper Layer corresponds to the era between Sinam-riⅢ1 and Sinam-riⅡ. Furthermore, Sinam-riⅡ1 and Guryonggang Ⅰ run parallel with Sinam-riⅡ. Contrasting this with South Korea, the new style of Sinam-riⅡ can be dated as the first half of earlier South Korea era and this is not contradictory to lots of identifications of Doldaemun Pottery recently. Contrasting the northwest with the south in chronology, maybe a standard for chronology of the mumun pottery including the whole Korean Peninsula.
