Study for the background of Joil-ril style stone coffin tomb:focus in Ulsan·Gyeongju area

이 글은 울산·경주지역의 수혈식석곽묘 중 석곽 단벽이 호형으로 이루어진 석곽묘에 대한 것이다. 기존에는 ‘이형(울산식)석곽묘’ 또는 ‘신라식석곽묘’라는 용어를 사용하였으나, 종합적인 분석을 통해 필자는 ‘조일리식석곽묘’로 명명하여 그 분포상과 축조배경에 대하여 검토해 보았다. 현재까지 울산지역은 5개소에 90기 정도. 경주지역은 10개소에 42기 정도가 보고되었고, 모두 4개의 형식으로 분류된다. 전체 분석이 가능한 104기 중에는 석곽의 장축이 3m이상의 것이 60기로서 약 58%에 해당하며, 울산지역이 경주지역에 비해 8:2 정도로 우세하다. 이러한 조일리식석곽묘는 신라토기 편년에 의해 모두 5단계로 분류되며, 조영시기는 5세기 3/4분기~6세기 3/4분기로 설정될 수 있다. 한편, 조일리식석곽묘의 축조배경은 대호와 같은 대형 토기류 등의 부장증가로 인해 유물부장공간을 극대화하기 위한 것으로 생각되는데, 이러한 구조적 요인에는 울산 서부지역 묘제의 전통적인 지역성이 작용하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 특히, 조일리식석곽묘는 울산의 서부지역에서 집중적으로 분포하며, 조일리식석곽묘 중 B형식은 고분군 축조집다나 내에서도 가장 상위급 피장자의 것으로서 전대 목곽묘의 전통을 가장 충실하게 반영하나 형태라 할 수 있다.

This thesis is about the newly name 'Joil-ril style stone coffin tomb' which has been named Ulsan style coffin tomb or Silla style stone coffin tomb that is made of arc with stone coffin of stone line tomb in Ulsan, Gyeungju area. In this studying, I would give the new name Joil-ril style coffin tomb by total analysis and would search the distribution and building background as followings. So far, It has been reported five places including 90 tombs in Ulsan area and 10 places including 42 tombs in Gyeongju area, finally classifies into 4 styles. Among the analysis-104 tombs, The stone-line tomb in Gyeongju area which are for 60 tombs and this figure can be about 58%. In conclusion that Ulsan area is much more superior than Gyeongju area in numbers as 8 to 2. Thus Joil-ril style stone coffin tomb can classify into 5 steps by recording chronological of silla pottery and the construction era can be set up 5th century-third quarter and 6th century-third quarter. In addition, The building background of Joil-ril style stone coffin tomb is considered to maximize the burial accessories space due to increasing a large class of pottery such as big jar, on the other hand it is a possibility that should be effected the strong region feature structurally. Especially. Joil-ril stone coffin tomb is ranged intensively in Western part of Ulsan area so that shoul be centered in this area, B type of Joil-ril stone coffin tomb is admitted the burial of dead person, a superior position among the tumulus of construction group which is the most well reflection of tradition in former ages.
