百濟式積石塚의 發生 背景과 意味

A Study on the Stepped Stone-mound Tombs of Packche-type

서울 석촌동 일대에 남아있는 적석총들은 모두 백제 한성시대 최고지배세력의 고분으로 인정되지만 세부 구조에 있어 고구려식적석총과 백제식적석총으로 나누어진다. 이 가운데 백제식적석총은 그 발생 문제에 있어 논란이 분분한데 크게 보아 현지 토착세력의 선행묘제가 고구려 적석총의 요소를 도입하여 변화된 것이라는 견해와 고구려의 적석총이 서울지역에 도입된 뒤 외부만 돌로 축조하고 내부는 현지에서 구하기 힘든 돌 대신 흙을 채운 것이라는 견해로 구분되고 있다. 이 문제는 백제식적석총의 주인공이 현지의 선주민인지 고구려계 이주민인지를 구별해주는 중요한 차이임과 동시에 백제의 건국과정이나 지배구조를 이해하는데 중요한 관건이 되기 때문에 신중한 판단이 요구되고 있다. 이 글에서는 서울 강남지역에서 고구려식적석총의 도입 이전부터 사용되고 있었던 즙석분구묘가 3세기 중엽경 고구려식적석총의 요소를 도입하여 백제식적석총으로 변화하였을 가능성이 높다는 것을 논하였다. 또한 잘 알려진 가락동 2호분과 석촌동 3호분 동쪽고분군의 즙석분구묘가 추가장에 의한 다장묘이면서 원래 주구를 가지고 있었을 가능성을 감안하여 서울지역 즙석분구묘들이 범마한권의 분구묘와 비슷한 유형에 속하는 것으로 보았다. 이를 통해 백제식적석총 주인공의 출자 문제를 보다 분명히 함과 동시에 한성백제 건국의 핵심지역인 서울 강남 일대가 원래 마한권에 해당하였던 것임을 논하였다.

There are two types of Stepped Stone-mound Tombs in the central area of Packche during the Hanseong period, one is Koguryo-type, the other Packche-type. The Stepped Stone-mound Tombs of Packche-type which is believed to have been transformed from the original Stone-covered Mound Tombs being influenced by the style of the Koguryo-type Stepped Stone-mound Tomb appeared during the middle of third century. It means that the immigrant group using the Stepped Stone-mound Tombs slowly gained control over the preexisting group using the original Stone-covered Mound Tombs in Seoul area from the middle of third century. The original Stone-covered Mound Tombs in Seoul area have several coffins inside the mound and ditches around the mound. These two elements of several coffins and ditches are equal to the Mound tombs in Chungcheong and Cheolla provinces, the territory of Mahan. It means that Seoul area belonged to the northern part of Mahan before the establishment of Paekche.
