충청지역의 선송국리 물질문화와 송국리유형

The Pre-Songgukri Material Culture and Songgukri Assemblage in Chungcheong Area

본고는 송국리유형의 발생지로 생각되는 충청지역을 중심으로 이른바 선송국리 물질문화와 송국리유형의 시공간적 관계를 논의한다. 선송국리 물질문화의 시간적 위치를 살피기 위해 본고에서는 송국리유형 외래기원설의 근거와 논리를 반박하고, 관창리 B지구를 중심으로 (1) 토기의 구연형태와 주거지 평면형태 간의 상관관계와 (2) 휴암리식 방형주거지와 송국리식 원형주거지의 공간분포 차이를 분석한다. 분석결과, 서해안 지역에서 휴암리식 방형주거지는 역삼동유형을 계승한 심발형토기와 호의 기종이 주를 이루며, 송국리식 원형주거지에서는 송국리식 외반구연옹이 주로 출토된다. 또한, 휴암리식 방형주거지는 선형의 배치를 이루는 데에 반해, 송국리식 원형주거지는 군집을 이루며 분포한다. 한편 천안지역에서는 발형토기의 하한이 송국리식 원형주거지의 등장 이후까지 내려와, 지역 간에 차이를 보이고 있다. 이러한 고고학적 양상을 가장 잘 설명하는 안은 선송국리 물질문화의 공간적 범위를 송국리유형의 발생지인 서해안과 금강중하류로 한정하되, 시간적으로 송국리유형의 발생에 선행한다고 보는 것이다. 선송국리 물질문화의 발생과 송국리유형의 형성과정에는 충청지역 내에서 인구의 재배치과정이 있었으며, 이후 송국리유형은 일종의 배타적 네트웍으로 발전하여 다른 지역과 사회경제적으로 차별적 분화해 나가며, 주변지역으로 확산하는 과정에서 문화접변을 발생시키는 것으로 생각된다.

This paper discusses the spatio-temporal relationship between the Pre-Songgukri material culture and Songgukri assemblage in Chungcheong area, probable birthplace of the Songgukri assemblage. To examine the temporal position of the Pre-Songgukri material culture, I analyze (1) relationship between rim profile of vessels and plan of houses, and (2) difference in spatial distribution between the Hyuamri rectangular houses and Songgukri round houses. Analysis shows that in West Coast area, deep bowls and necked bowls consist ceramic assemblage from the Hyuamri rectangular houses, while the Songgukri type pottery are found primarily from round houses. It also shows that rectangular houses has linear distribution, while round houses are clustered. In Cheonan area, bowls lasted after the appearance of the Songgukri round houses, showing geographical variability. This archaeological data suggests that although the Pre-Songgukri material culture is geographically restricted to the West coast and the middle/Low Geum River Valley, it preceded the Songgukri Assemblage. The appearance of the Pre-Songgukri material culture and formation of Songgukri assemblage involved the process of population relocation in Chungcheong area. Shortly, the Songgukri culture developed an expansion resulted in acculturation of other ares.
