미디어교육에 대한 도시와 농촌 간의 실태 차이 비교 연구

A study on Media-education Gaps between Urban and Rural areas in schooling : Focused on Primary School in Jeollabuk-Do Province

본 연구는 도시와 농촌 지역 간의 교육격차가 현존하는 상황에서 미디어교육의 영역에서도 도농 간의 교육격차가 나타나고 있는가를 살펴보고 있다. 구체적으로 미디어교육의 교육과정 요인 중에서 미디어 이용 실태, 미디어교육 현황, 미디어교육에 대한 인식에 대한 도농 간의 차이를 점검하고 있다. 이를 위해 전라북도 지역 초등학교를 대상으로 전수 조사를 실시했다. 결과를 종합해 보면, 미디어교육의 교육요건, 교육현황, 인식 등 교육과정적 측면에서 도농 간의 큰 격차는 없는 것으로 보인다. 이는 한국의 교육문제에서 교육격차, 특히 지역 간 격차가 주요한 이슈로 부각하고 있을 현실에 비추어 볼 때, 다행스러운 일이다. 미디어교육과 관련한 도농 간의 큰 격차가 없는 이유로는 정보격차 및 교육격차 해소를 위해 농촌 지역에 대한 지원이 지속적으로 이루어졌다는 점, 농촌 지역학교의 유휴시설의 전환으로 미디어교육과 관련한 교육여건이 확충되고 있다는 점 등을 추정할 수 있다. 또한 전체 교육과정에서 아직 미디어교육의 비중이 크지 않기에 미디어 교육에 대한 도농 간의 격차 역시 크게 나타나지 않는 것으로 보인다. 한편, 조사대상자의 미디어교육에 대한 이해의 문제, 도농 간의 큰 편차가 없는 조사대상의 범위 문제 등이 본 연구의 제한점으로 남는다.

The purpose of this research is to examine whether media-education gaps are exist or not between Urban and Rural areas in schooling. In the concrete, this research investigate the actual condition of media use, the present state of media education, and the understanding for media education between Urban and Rural areas. For this aims, this study use survey research method. The sample are taken in the whole primary-school in Jeollabuk-do province. In conclusion, there are a little gaps between Urban and Rural areas with relation to media education in schooling. Reflecting on the state of educational gaps between Urban and Rural areas, this result is very fortunate for schooling media education. The reasons are assumed like these; 1) expand and improve the facilities for educational gaps and information divide, especially rural areas. 2) make use of the equipment and facilities that has so far remained unused in order to schooling in rural areas. 3) because media education is given little weight in the total schooling, gaps are still might not appeared. Partly, this research have limitation; if the extension of research areas which have big gaps between urban and rural, the result might be changed.
