A Morphological Description on the Process of the Derived Word Formation Centering around '-gi' in the Middle Korean

The purpose of this study is to explore a way of a morphological description of '-gi' in the process of the derived word formation in the middle Korean. This study finds that the process of derived word formation involves an analogy, as well as grammatical rules, which performs a directive influence referring to grammatical regulations in the formation of a new vocabulary. This study also defines the whole process of the derived word formation-from the starting point of process of word formation by analogy and grammatical rules to the point of registering the new word to the lexicon. Such a redefinition enables researchers to describe the derived word formation at the time span of researcher's designation.
