특수교육 및 재활에서의 질적연구의 동향과 과제

Current Trend and Issues of Qualitative Research in Special Education and Rehabilitation

최근 특수교육 및 재활분야에서도 질적인 접근을 하는 연구에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 그러나 질적 연구가 상대적으로 기존의 연구자들에게 익숙하던 양적 연구 패러다임에 비해 아직 그 인식 및 연구에 실제적으로 활용되는 정도는 적은 편이다. 본 연구는 특수교육 및 재활분야에서의 질적연구의 필요성 및 양적연구와의 상호보완성에 대하여 살펴보고, 최근 이루어진 질적연구들의 주제 및 연구방법의 동향에 대하여 고찰함으로써, 특수교육 및 재활분야에서의 질적연구의 올바른 이해와 적용을 위한 기초가 되고자 한다.

Qualitative research is becoming more popular in many professional areas including special education and rehabilitation. However, information about qualitative research is scarce. Current literature is limited to the general theoretical background and research methodology, without specific information related to the special education field. This paper explained rationale of using qualitative research in special education and rehabilitation field and discussed current qualitative research trend in terms of study themes and methodology. Main research themes include following topics such as inclusive educational practice, transition to adult life, early intervention, and use of assistive technology. Brief explanation about action research was added after it. This study will serve as a basis for enhanced understanding and for facilitating more future qualitative research in special education rehabilitation field.
