Training and Certificate Model of the Speech-Language Pathologist in Korea

본 연구에서는 언어치료사의 기능과 현재 우리나라에서 이루어지고 있는 언어치료사 양성과정, 자격제도, 취업실태 및 수요전망에 대하여 고찰하였다. 전문언어치료사는 임상적 경험에 의한 평가와 치료활동을 하는 기술자가 아니라, 말-언어-의사소통의 심리언어학적, 생리적, 그리고 사회적인 과정 및 발달에 대한 지식을 가지고 있어야 하며, 그 과정에서의 결함을 나타내는 언어장애인들에 대한 평가 ․ 진단과 치료를 언어병리학적 지식을 바탕으로 실시할 수 있는 소양을 갖추어야 한다. 이에 언어치료사 양성과정에서 포함되어야 하는 과목과 임상실습 내용을 살펴보았고, 현재 우리나라의 자격증제도와 미국, 일본의 제도를 살펴보았다. 또한, 현재 언어치료사 취업실태 및 공급현황과 향후 수요전망을 분석함으로써 좀 더 효율적이고 질적인 언어치료사 양성제도 수립의 방향을 제시하였다.

The current training programs for the speech-language pathologist in Korea was reviewed. The Certificates of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology of the United States and Japan were also analyzed in terms of their academic curriculum and clinical practicum. Further, the needs and the supplies of the speech pathologist in Korea were prospected. Most of the speech pathologist in Korea are working in the private clinic, hospital, welfare center, and school. Results of this review indicated that many language-disordered children and elderlies are out of the proper services for their speech and language problems. The training and certificate model of the speech-language pathologist was proposed in this study
