The present study concentrated to the presence of poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and its possible relation with regulation of the excision repair in lower and higher eucaryotes. Treament of 5mM 3AB only resulted no significant change in the amount of DNA strand breaks as compared with that in control. When 3AB was treated after MMS treatment, the rejoing of MMS-induced DNA single strand breaks was accelerated as compared with that in cells incubated in normal medium after MMS treatment.
