학습동아리의 사회적 연결망과 지식공유의 관계

The relationship between social networks and knowledge sharing in learning communities: Testing the non-linear model among tie density, centralization and knowledge sharing

학습동아리는 학습자에게 새로운 학습기회를 제공하고 학습자를 학습의 주체로 세우는 역할을 수행하고 있다. 그러나 조직수준에서 보면 학습동아리 구성원의 학습활동이나 지식공유활동은 보다 다양한 모습을 보이고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 학습동아리의 사회적 연결망과 지식공유간의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하는데 초점을 두었다. 특히 사회적 연결망을 관계밀도와 집중화로 구체화하였고 이 두 변수가 어느 수준까지는 지식공유와 정적 관계를 갖지만 지나치게 강화될 경우 지식공유가 오히려 감소되는 역U자형 관계를 가질 수 있다는 가정을 설정하였다. 총 72개의 학습동아리에서 668개의 설문지를 회수하여 분석에 활용하였다. 분석결과, 관계밀도는 지식공유와 정적 관계를 갖고 있었고 선형모형에 의하여 관계가 설명되었다. 그러나 집중화의 경우에는 지식공유와 비선형모형의 관계를 갖고 있었고 특히 역U자형의 관계가 나타났다. 즉, 집중화가 강화될수록 지식공유는 증가하다가 어느 시점부터는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구결과에 기초하여 학습동아리의 지식공유가 활성화되기 위한 몇 가지 시사점들을 제안하였다.

Recently, the learning community has keenly been interested in our field of study. The process of creating a variety of learning opportunities in learning communities is strongly based upon social networks among their members. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between social networks focusing tie density and centralization and knowledge sharing which is resulted in shared knowledge creation. The Literature review showed that social networks is not always able to be viewed as a goodthing. Data were collected from 668 member of 72 learning communities. To address the research purpose, data was analyzed with UCINET 6 to identify the degree of social networks. Also non-linear regression analyses are used to test the relationship between two variables. The findings are as follows: (1) Tie density had significant impacts on knowledge sharing in both type of linear and non-linear model. We concluded that linear model was more reasonable because the model showed more adjusted R2 and lower the rate of 1 type error that non-linear model. (2) Centralization significantly influenced on knowledge sharing in the type of non-linear model. Especially curve estimation like reverse U pattern was reasonable to explain the relationship between centralization and knowledge sharing. Centralization of social networks had an effects on knowledge sharing positively as well as negatively. Finally, some implications are discussed.
