Inclusion In The SSCI Database

SSCI 등재를 위한 한국학회지의 평가

본 논문은 톰슨로이터사의 학회지 선택과정을 고찰하여 한국학회지의 SSCI 등제에 대한 가능성을 찾아보는데 초점을 맞추었다. 많은 비평 속에도 불구하고 톰슨사는 지금까지 자연과학에 대해 세계적 선두주자로 각광을 받아왔고 이러한 추세는 새로운 기관이 나오기 전에는 자연과학과 사회과학 분야에 대해 앞으로도 계속될 전만이다. (사) 한국물류학회가 발행하는 물류학회지에 게재된 자체 논문평가를 예를 들어 분석한 결과 한국 학술지의 SSCI 등재지로서 등재를 전재로 할 때 전반적인 문제점들이 나타났다. 이러한 문제점들은 물류학회지에 국한된 것이 아니고 한국연구재단에 등록된 많은 학술지중 SSCI 등재를 원하는 학술지 모두의 공통사항일 수 있다. 학회지 명칭의 독자성과 논문의 주제 및 초록의 구성 등 국제화를 위한 배려가 필요하다. 이 논문은 한국학술지의 전반적인 문제점을 보안하여 SSCI 등재지로 국제화를 위해서는 각 학술지의 국제화에 대한 적응과 대비가 필요하고, 정책적으로는 한국연구재단의 학술지 심사규정을 연구재단의 목적과 명성에 부정적 영향을 미치지 않는 선에서 변경하는 것이 가장 좋은 방법이라고 제안하였다.

This paper is aimed at addressing the journal selection process of Thompson and the potential inclusion of more Korean journals in the SSCI database. Despite the criticism, Thompson Science has been a world-leading institution of science, and it will continue to be a dominant player in the world of science and social sciences journals unless a new player appears in the future. The article review of KLR was examined as an example of Korean journals to identify the general problems that need to be resolved for inclusion of the SSCI database. The problems were not only pertaining to KLR but also to the majority of Korean journals included in the Korean Research Foundation (NRF) database if they would like to be selected as one of the SSCI journals. Specific and independent journal titles, informative and descriptive contents, topics, and abstracts of articles, and international diversity are necessary. This article found that each Korean journal to adopt international diversity and international editorial convention and change and modify the current journal selection procedures of NRF without losing their identity as the leading institution of Korean Research were the most feasible solution to increase the number of Korean journals in the SSCI database.
