The Influence of Art Therapy on Children with Heanng Difficulties

This study has discovered on the effects of art therapy for the self-identification of children who have hearing difficulties. The researcher classified self-identification into general self-identification, self-willed self-identification, social self-identification, self-identification in school life andd sexual self-identification in this chapter. The conclusion of children's special behavior in each session is following. First, it appeared in a positive way that art therapy influences general self-identification for the children with hearing difficulties. It appeared that art therapy gave less influences on self-willed self-identification, social self-identification and social self-identification for them. On the other hand it appeared that art theray almost did not effect sexual self-identification. Second, special behavior discovered on the effects of art therapy for the self-identification of children who have hearing difficulties is summarized as follows Hearing impaired children in this program didn't control their emotion, acted on impulse in the early period. It discovered positive actual changes on self-identification in the latter period that children could control their emotion judging from the existing state of things, do less an impulsive act, and gave a therapist great affection. In conclusion, the influence of art therapy on child with hearing disability changed the negative concepts of general self-identification, self-willed self-identification, social self-identification, and self-identification in school life into a positive way. These positive ideas help to have self-confidence, achievement and a healthy relationship in society. Each experiment proves that an impulsive act and emotion can be controlled and children show affection to others in the latter period. However, it appears that art therapy doesn't give changes to sexual self-identification. According to the results of study, some suggestions will be provided below. First, this thesis is studied with only one person's point of view so it might be restricted to generalize the results. Second, this thesis has studied the effects of self-identification on the children with hearing difficulties through art therapy program in a short period of time. Therefore, varieties of techniques on experiment will be needed for the long term experiment in the future.
