본 연구는 자원봉사활동의 지속성과 관련된 영향요인들을 실증적으로 검증함으로써, 자원봉사활동의 지속성 증진을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 기존 선행연구에서 지적된 내용과 약간의 차별성을 보여 주고 있다. 첫째, 다수의 선행연구에서는 자원봉사의 참여동기가 참여만족도에 많은 영향을 주는 요인으로 나타났으나, 본 연구는 참여동기가 참여만족 사이에 직접적인 인과관계는 부인된 반면에 자기효능감이라는 매개변인을 통한 간접적 인과관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자원봉사의 참여동기는 자발성보다는 이기적 동기의 충족이 가장 큰 참여요인으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대의적 동기와 이기적 동기는 지속성에 직접적 인과관계가 긍정된 반면, 외부적 동기는 지속성에 직접적 인과관계가 부인된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 자원봉사활동의 지속성을 증진시키기 위해선, 자원봉사자들의 이기적 동기를 충족시킬 수 있는 제도적 보완이 필요하며, 자원봉사의 사회적 가치를 인정하고, 참여 자원봉사자들에게 주어지는 유인책에 대해 적극적인 관심과 개발이 필요하다.
The purpose of this research is to offer some basic materials for encouraging durability of volunteering, by inspecting the primary factors affecting durability of volunteering. The result of this research shows some differences from contents pointed out preceding study. First of all, the participating motive affects on satisfaction of participating in a large number of preceding study. This research, however, shows that there is no direct causal relationship between the participating motivation and satisfaction of participating, but there is some indirect relationship through self-value. Second, the most important participating factor is sufficiency of selfish motivation. Third, there is some direct causal relationship between the motivation of great duty and selfish motivation, while there is no direct relationship between exterior motivation and durability. Based on this result, it need to supplement selfish motivation of the volunteers institutionally, admit social value of volunteer work, have interests in and develop policies attracting volunteers.
