세종조 도서보급 정책이 제주교육에 미친 영향

A Study about Influence on Jeju Education of Books Spread Policy under the Reign of King Sejong

본 연구는 세종17년(1435) 9월21일, 제주도에 대한 도서 特賜와 관련된 기록을 토대로 이러한 도서보급 정책이 제주도에서는 어떤 내용으로 그리고 어떻게 전개되었는지 구명함으로써 그것이 궁극적으로는 조선조 제주교육에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 결국 세종조의 제주도에 대한 도서보급 정책을 계기로 제주도의 향교에도 교육에 필요한 도서를 갖추게 되었음은 물론 이를 계기로 체제정비 차원에서 성리학적 국가교학이념이 정책적으로 강제됨으로써 제주교육이 중앙중심의 교육구조에 철저히 편입되고 객체화될 수 있게 된다.

This research clarifies the influence of books spread policy on Jeju education under the region of King Sejong by looking into the contents and process of development of the policy through related records of a special grant of books to Jeju island, on Sep. 21, 1435. Eventually the books spread policy was an opportunity for the strategic spread of the idea of national education related to Sungri Philosophy which originates from Juja, and Jeju󰡑s local education could be completely incorporated into centralized national education structure and objectified.
