A Study on the Admission of Students to a University by Department in 1970's

지금 시행되고 있는 학부제는 대학교육개혁의 일환으로 70년대 시행된 계열별모집에서부터 그 기원을 찾을 수 있다. 70년대 계열별모집의 취지는 학생들이 자기의 희망과 적성을 스스로 발견하여 전공학과를 선정하도록 하는 것이나, 실태분석결과 특정 인기학과에 편중되는 경향을 막기 위해 결국 성적순으로 배정하는 불합리성을 드러냈다. 이러한 특정학과에의 집중 혹은 과소현상은 계열구분의 문제와 결부되는데, 지나치게 넓은 계열범위는 결과적으로 전공학과를 충분히 알지 못하고 선택하게 하며 이는 특정학과에 쏠리게 하는 원인이 되기도 하므로, 대계열보다는 중계열, 소계열로 세분화하는 것이 바람직하다. 아울러 계열내 학과의 성격이 판이한 경우 특정 학과에의 집중 또는 과소지망현상이 더욱 심각하게 나타나는데, 이와 관련하여 단대 범위를 넘어 학문적 성격이 유사한 학과들로 계열을 구성하는 방안도 검토해 보아야 할 것이다.

The admission of students to a university by department is as a part of reform projects of higher education in 1970's, that is very suggestive in now higher education. In relation to the reorganization background of admission unit of students, all that matters of previous school subject are exclusion of major field, loss of opportunity to develop one's aptitude, establishment of school subject as a means to call up students and faculty, inefficiency of utilize of personel and facilities. The admission of students to a university by department give rise to many problems in classifying by department, major study assignment, student guidance, etc. The purpose of admission of students to a university by department in 1970's is that the students discover one's wishes and aptitude and choice major. But the result of the realities analysis, each university had been induced irrationality which assign by grade. And too broad department scope had been induced undesirable major choice and incline toward specified school subject. Therefore the middle or small department is much better than the great department. And when the feature of major in the department is too different, the concentration or small application of the specified school subject is too serious. Therefore the construction of department by the alike school subjects of the feature of study is examined.
