朝鮮後期 濟州敎育에 끼친 斥邪論議의 影響과 그 意義에 關한 硏究

The Study of the Influence of the Chuksa Argument on Jeju's Education and its Significance

朝鮮後期의 대외적 도전에 대하여 조선조의 통치이념으로서의 정통성리학의 문맥에서 조선조 정치체제의 보위를 주장한 대표적인 사상이 바로 斥邪衛正思想이다. 척사위정은 면암 최익현의 유배교학활동과 안달삼과 같은 제주도 사람들의 직접수업을 통한 기정진과의 만남에 의해 제주도에 전수된다. 면암의 순국은 제주도에서 의병운동을 본격적적으로 점화시키는 결정적 동기가 된다. 제주유림들은 集義契라는 비밀결사를 만들어 항일의 의지를 불태웠는가하면 전라도 장성에서 의병을 일으킨 기정진의 손자 寄宇萬, 寄參衍과 연계하여 의병운동을 일으킴으로써 조선후기 척사논의의 영향과 의의를 보여준다. 조선후기 척사위정사상의 영향으로 제주교육의 독특한 주체적 역량을 강화하는 계기가 된다. 이러한 영향은 제주도의 조천만세운동으로 이어지며 나아가 일제시대의 다양한 제주도 민족교육운동으로 재현됨으로써 제주교육의 면모를 새롭게 드러낸다.

Chuksa Wijung is one of the rep.resentative ideologies that addressed the preservation of Chosun's political system against the outer challenges at the end of the dynasty on the context of the orthodox Sung Confucianism. The ideology was bequeathed by the educational activity of Choi Ik Hyun on his exile and the encounter with Ki Jung Jin through the class held by the local Jeju peop.le such as An Dal Sam. The patriotic death of Choi Ik Hyun provided Jeju p.eop.le with a decisive motivation to initiate the local movement of patriotic armies. For example, the local Confucianists created a secret association called 'Jip. Yi Kye' to fight against the Japanese occupation. Furthermore, they raised the army with the close connection with Ki Wu Man and Ki Sam Yun, the grandsons of Ki Jung Jin, who were also associated with the same movement in Jangsung, Junra province. These activities clearly indicate the influence and significance of the Chuksa argument at the end of the Chosun Dynasty. Influenced by the Chuksa ideology, Jeju's education could reinforce its independent capability. The influence was later succeeded to the cheering movement of Chochun and other ethnic education movements under the Japanese occupation and this reveals the new aspect of Jeju's education.
