정보화 사회에서의 미디어교육에 대한 교육철학적 소고

A Consideration of Educational Philosophy on the Media Education in the Information Society

정보화 사회 혹은 지식기반 사회 등으로 불리어지는 현대 사회는 정보통신 기술과 커뮤니케이션 기술의 발달이 비약적으로 이루어지는 가운데 우리의 일상적인 삶의 모습뿐만 아니라 사회조직과 제도, 나아가 교육 패러다임의 전환을 요구한다. 이와 같이 변화된 사회적 환경 속에서 청소년들은 정보를 효과적으로 수집하고 창조적으로 활용할 수 있는 능력을 필요로 하며, 그러한 능력을 길러주는 미디어교육이 강력하게 요청된다. 본 연구는 학교교육에서의 미디어교육이 단순히 미디어의 조작과 효과적인 활용에만 초점을 맞추는 것이 아니라, 21세기 정보화 사회의 주역이 될 학생들로 하여금 미디어 활용에 있어서의 제반 문제들을 바르게 이해하고, 거기서 파생될 수 있는 각종 윤리 도덕적인 문제들에 슬기롭게 대처해 나갈 수 있는 윤리적 역량을 키워주는 데 집중되어야 한다는 전제 하에, 정보화 사회에서의 미디어교육과 그 윤리교육적 측면에 대해 고찰해 보고자 한다. 이는 미래의 정보화 사회가 인간의 존엄성과 개별성이 존중되는 가운데 삶의 질을 한층 더 증진시킬 수 있는 유토피아로 기능할 수 있게끔 하는 중요한 방법이 되기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 정보화 사회의 도래에 따른 교육 패러다임의 변화와 미디어교육의 필요성, 그리고 미디어 윤리교육에 대한 철학적 고찰을 주요 내용으로 구성하고 있다.

The aim of this study is to considerate of educational philosophy on the media education in the information society. Modern society is called as a information society which is very close relation to the development of information and communication technology. The influence of multimedia which including the TV, computer, and internet is increasing in the information society. Especially, the media have been applying to overcome bounds of space-time extending the experience in the educational system. This recent tendency requires the need of media education as formal curriculum in the schooling. The development of information technology which is the basis of the information society has caused the youth various ethical problems, and it is required them to establish a firm ethical view of information to solve these ethical problems. Media ethics is a kind of the norm to settle their ethical problems in the cyber space and the standard to distinguish right or wrong, good or bad, moral or immoral while living in the information society. Finally, the media education demanded in the information society is prior to the education of media ethics which can prevent the various problems caused by the informations, and cultivate high quality of healthy media culture through the right use of information and communication technology and media. The education of media ethics will make a great contribution to the youth's sound and healthy growth with the restoration of conscience which can resist the wrong temptation in the rapidly changing information society.
