The study of Korean word-formation has been in duality in that under the influence of generative morphology it adopts either a weak lexicalist hypothesis or a strong one as its methodological basis. In the past, the word-formation study based on a weak lexicalist standpoint rules. Nowdays some linguists following a strong version of lexicalist hypothesis attempt to extend syntactic suffixes to unite word-formation rules and syntactic rules into a simple rule system. This study demonstrated weather the position which views conventionally defined t∫apïms` i(t∫it∫əngsa)`-i(ta)`, and lexical suffixes `-tap(ta)` and `-hi(ta)` as syntactic suffixes, is valid or not.
