대안학교 예술-체육 계열 교과 통합 현황에 관한 사례 연구

A study of the curriculum integration with art education and physical education in the alternative schools

본 연구에서는 예·체능 계열 교육과정을 중심으로 대안학교 교육과정의 편성 및 교과통합의 현황을 분석해 교과통합 교육과정에 대한 여러 가지 가능성을 탐색하고 통합 교육과정 여건 조성 방안을 탐구해 보고자 하였다. 총 15개 대안학교가 연구에 참여하였고 예·체능 계열 교과통합 현황을 분석하기 위하여 참여 학교의 학교교육계획서를 분석하고 예·체능 계열 교사를 대상으로 설문조사와 개별 면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과 대안학교에서 3년 동안 이수해야할 총 이수학점은 평균 210학점이었고 예체능 과목에 할당된 평균 이수 학점은 30학점으로 총 교과의 14%를 차지하고 있었다. 예·체능 계열 교과목 담당 교원은 대학교나 교육기관으로부터 통합학습에 대한 전문적인 교육을 받은 경험이 거의 없었다. 그러나 응답자 중 50%의 교사가 대안학교에 재직하면서 통합 수업을 운영한 경험을 가지고 있었으며, 그 중 50%는 통합교과에 관심이 없거나 반대하는 입장을 보였다. 통합교과의 운영이 어려운 이유는 대부분의 r사들이 통합에 필요한 훈련을 받지 않았고 참고할 만한 통합 모델이 없기 때문에 교사들이 시도하기에는 어려운 작업이라고 하였다. 아울러 간학문적 통합을 시도할 경우 어떤 학문에 우위를 두어야 할지가 문제로 대두되었고 팀티칭을 할 경우 각자의 영역을 강조할 것이기 때문에 진정한 의미의 통합이 일어나기는 힘들다고 보고 있었다. 본 연구 결과로 학교 현장에서 통합학습 프로그램을 활성화시키기 방안이 교사 조직, 학습 환경 및 학교의 지원 측면에 초점을 맞추어 논의되었다.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the ways of facilitating curriculum integration among subject matters. This study focused on the analyzing art and physical education in alternative high schools. Fifteen out of 19 alternative registered schools in Korea participated in this study. In order to find out how alternative schools are currently involved in curriculum integration in terms of art and physical education, the school curriculum guide books were collected and analyzed. In addition, surveys and interviews were conducted with teachers in the participating schools. Eight teachers participated in the surveys and two teachers participated in the interviews. The results indicated that the teachers neither had much experiences in curriculum integration nor had the desires to integrate curriculum among the subject matters. Some teacher agreed that curriculum integration was beneficial to students in many ways, providing new experiences to them. Since most of teachers did not know the appropriate ways to integrate curriculum, there should be balance between subjects which they might not know how to handle. It appeared that curriculum integration experiences should be included in the teacher education. Suggestions for facilitating teachers to integrate curriculum in cooperation with other teachers were made.
