Establishment Strategies of a Logistics Cluster for an Oil Hub of Ulsan in Northeast Aisa

With the high economic growth rate in Northeast Asia, the trade volume of petroleum and its by-products has been growing remarkably in recent years Considering the geographical location, capacity of oil refinery and the number of petrochemical companies, Ulsan is very competitive in becoming an oil hub in Northeast Asia by utilizing cluster This paper aims to examine the oil hub and cluster of Singapore and Rotterdam as successful cases and make assessment of competitiveness of Ulsan as an oil hub in NEA The results suggest expansion of infrastructure such as tank terminals and port, free trade agreements with neighbouring countries, port hinterland development for petrochemical cluster, some practical and special training programs for cultivating experts of oil trade and terminal operation, the establishment of e-Business and e-Trade platforms for oil trading
