A Study on the Liabilities of the Carrier in the Rotterdam Rules : Focused on Comparison to Hague Rules, Hague-Visby Rules and Hambrug Rules

The United Nations presented the new legal framework that the signing event of the convention was taken officially in the Rotterdam, the Netherlands The convention(Rotterdam rules) will be expected to replace the Hague rules(1924), Hague-Visby rules(1968) and Hamburg rules(1978) as those conventions have become outdated Rotterdam rules are developing the carriage of goods in containers and elecronic transport records as having the same effect by law applicable to the record transferred In the liabilities of carrier, the Rotterdam rules adapted the exception list of liability and expand to not just tackle or port place but from the place received to the place for delivery of the goods And it was endeavoring to harmonize the balances between carrier and shipper in the contract of carriage of goods. In this article it was focusing on the liabilities of carriers in the contracts of carriage in this convention this paper is comparing and estimating the different with previous conventions, Hague rules, Hague-Visby rules and Hamburg rules As this study it is possible to understand the new convention, Rotterdam rules, and to consider the main problems about the liabilities of carrier in this convention for the future discussions
