보상이 창의성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는가 그렇지 않은 가에 대한 상반된 견해가 오랫동안 대립해왔다. 그러나 이제는 보상이 효과가 있다 없다의 흑백론적 논의로서 보상을 사용할 것인가의 문제가 아니라 보상을 어떻게 사용할 것인가의 문제로 귀결된다. 본 연구에서는 실험연구를 통해 창의성을 신장시키기 위한 창의성 프로그램을 수행함과 동시에 언어적 보상을 실시한 집단과 그렇지 않은 집단 간에 차이가 있는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울시 3개 초등학교의 4학년 학생 350명으로 사전검사는 창의적 사고능력 검사(TTCT)와 창의적 인성검사(CPS)를 실시하였다. 3개의 집단으로 나누어서 한 집단은 창의성 프로그램과 언어적 보상을 제공하였고 다른 한 집단은 프로그램만을 실시하였으며 비교집단은 사전검사와 사후검사만을 측정하였다. 사후검사는 창의적 사고력과 창의적 인성을 측정하였다. 창의성 프로그램은 4주 동안 8차시에 걸쳐 실시되었으며 세 집단의 창의적 사고력과 창의성 인성점수에 있어 의미있게 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 창의성 프로그램을 실시한 집단은 그렇지 않은 집단에 비해 창의적 사고력에 있어 유의한 증진효과가 나타났으며 언어적 보상을 함께 제시한 집단은 통제집단과 창의성 프로그램만을 실시한 집단과 비교할 때 창의적 사고력과 창의적 인성 모두에서 유의한 증진효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과에 따라 교육현장에서 언어적 보상이 창의적 사고력과 창의적 인성에 어떠한 효과를 미칠 지와 앞으로 연구방향에 대해 제안하였다.
The controversy over the effect of reward on creativity between cognitively oriented investigators and behaviorists. Finally, the conditions under which rewards can be effectively used in actual industrial setting. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of verbal feedback as a reward on children's creative thinking ability and creative personality. An experimental study was conducted to investigate the role of verbal feedback on 350 fourth-grade students. The tool used for measuring the research was the TTCT, CPS(Creative Personality Scale, Hah, 2001) The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, ANCOVA analysis to convincing verification between the groups into practice by using SPSS 14.0 program. The major results of this study were as follows; First, Execute creative program have significant effect on the students creative thinking ability, but not on creative personality. Second, Verbal feedback have significant effect on the students' creative personality. The value of this research is, as we seeing how the verbal feedback affect students' creative thinking ability and creative personality either. And offering the data that gives us how to use verbal feedback at education. In brief, it is desirable that we give more verbal feedback like as praise, encouragement, assent for evaluation in creative thinking ability, and have much more effectiveness on creative personality.
