A Korean Language Teaching Case of Children in Multicultural Families : Focus on operation of the 'exciting Hangeul Bang'

다문화시대에 접어든 한국사회에서 다문화가정 자녀들의 학력향상과 정체성에 대한 교육적인 관심이 증가하고 있다. 특히, 국어 사용 능력은 학교교육에서 필요한 기초적인 능력으로 매우 중요하다. 이 글은 다문화가정 자녀 중에서 초등학교 저학년을 대상으로 국어 사용 능력을 향상시키고자 한 프로그램의 사례이다. 논의 과정으로 첫째, 다문화 가정 자녀의 국어 사용 능력이 저조한 원인과 사례를 4개 영역(읽기, 문장 이해, 말하기, 쓰기)으로 구분하여 제시하여 국어 사용 능력 향상을 위한 교육의 필요성 대하여 제시하였다. 둘째, ‘신나는 한글방’의 운영 목표와 교육 방법이나 교재의 선택 등 운영 방법에 대하여 기술하였다. 셋째, 신나는 한글방 운영에 따른 성과와 한계를 제시하였다.

As Korean society is turning into a multicultural era, the educational interests in enhancing the scholastic ability and identity of children in multicultural families are growing. Especially, Korean language ability is very important as a basic capacity is school education. This essay is a case of program to improve the Korean ability, targeting lower grades of elementary school among children in multicultural families. As a discussion process, first, These are the cause and case of low Korean language ability of children in multicultural families. These are presented by devide into four areas(reading, sentence comprehension, speaking, writing) for raising educational necessity of the improvement of Korean language using ability. Second, this essay describe the operational ways of objectives for 'exiting Hangeul Bang' and teaching materials. Third, it present the results and limits of the operation of 'exciting Hangeul Bang'.
