본 연구는 타당도에 대한 통합적 관점을 연구 현장에 적용하기 위한 하나의 모형, 즉, ‘타당도 분석을 위한 평가적 접근 모형’을 제시한다. 1970년대 이 후, 많은 타당도 이론가들은 타당도에 대한 전통적 관점의 한계를 인식하기 시작하였으며, 이에 통합적 관점으로 대변될 수 있는 타당도에 대한 새로운 이론들이 점차 학계의 인정을 받고 있다. 하지만, 아직도 타당도에 대한 대부분의 현장 연구들은 전통적 관점에 따라 수행되어지고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 통합적 관점의 특성들, 다시 말해, (1) 모든 타당화의 원리로서의 구인타당도, (2) 가치(value)와 검사 활용 결과(consequences)에 대한 명시적 고려, (3) 모든 가능한 증거들을 통한 종합적인 평가적 판단, (4) 평가(evaluation)로서의 타당화 과정을 연구 현장에서 구현하기 위한 하나의 모형을 제시한다. 또한, 본 평가적 접근 모형이 실제 어떻게 적용될 수 있을지를 SAT 논술시험의 타당도 분석 계획을 통해 살펴본다.
This article presents a framework for applying the unified view on validity to validation practice, i.e. ‘the evaluative approach to validation'. Since the 1970s, many validity theorists have realized the limitations of the traditional view on validity, and reached an agreement on new concepts of validity, which can be called the unified view on validity. However, the majority of validity studies in practice have still been performed according to traditional validity approaches. Therefore, the evaluative approach to validation is proposed as a framework for validation that incorporates the characteristics of the unified view, that is, (1) construct validity as the rationale of whole validation, (2) the explicit consideration of values and consequences of test use, (3) unified evaluative judgment through all sources of evidence, and (4) validation process as evaluation. This evaluative approach is illustrated through an example, that is, a study plan for evaluating the validity of the SAT essay.
