Effects of a Beauty Therapy Program on Cognitive, Depression and Emotional of Demented Elders

The present study was conducted in order to apply a beauty therapy program to demented elders and examine the effects of the program on demented elders' cognitive functions, depression, and emotional By performing MMSE K with 65 years old or older demented elders hospitalized in a long term care hospital, we sampled the subjects suitable for the purposes of this study and divided them into an experimental group (n=15) and a control group (n=16) The results of this study are as follows 1 The experimental group's depression was significantly different at t value of 4 21 and p<0 001, but the control group's depression was not significantly different 2 When the experimental group's positive emotion was analyzed before the beauty therapy program and after hair style production, significant difference was observed in pleasure, interest, and satisfaction at p<0 001 Difference in interest was not statistically significant When negative emotion was analyzed, significant difference was observed in anger at p<0 001, anxiety/fear, and mortification/sorrow at p<0 001 When the experimental group's positive emotion was analyed before and after nail care, significant difference was observed in pleasure, interest, and satisfaction at p<0 001 When negative emotion was analyzed, significant difference was observed in anxiety/fear at p<0 05, and mortification sorrow at p<0 001 Difference in anger was not statistically significant
