듀이 철학에서 정치적 민주주의 실현을 위한 교육적 방안

A Study on the Educational Way for Accomplishment of Political Democracy in Dewey’s Philosophy

본고에서는 Dewey의 정치적 민주주의는 어떠한 특징을 지니고 있으며 그것을 실현하기 위해 그가 어떠한 교육적 방안을 제시하고 있는가를 분석하고,한국교육에 줄 수 있는 시사점을 유추하고자 하였다.먼저,Dewey는 현대를 정치적 위기의 시대라고 진단하고,그 원인이 파당정치,권력의 독점,진보에 대한 순진한 의존성,범람하는 오락거리들에 의한 현혹,지성의 부재등에 있다고 분석하고 그 대안으로 정치적 민주주의를 제시하였다.그가 제시한 정치적 민주 주의의 기본적인 특징은 참여,의사소통,지성 그리고 자유와 평등 등이다.그리고 정치적 민 주주의를 실현하기 위해 Dewey는 정치교육의 실질적 강화,학교운영의 민주화 그리고 교사들 의 정치적 자유와 권리 보장을 교육적 방안으로 제시하고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to consider some educational ways for accomplishment of political democracy in Dewey’s philosophy.The results areas follows.First,Dewey diagnosed modern politicalsituation as‘the era of political crisis’and found there as on for the crisis in part is an politics,the monopolization of political power by the privileged class,pure and optimistic expectations the myth of progress of modern civilization,be wilderment by overflowing amusements and the absence of intelligence.Second,Dewey proposed the alternative to the modern crisis political democracy characterized by equal participation,free communication, intelligence, freedom and equality. Third, Dewey offered suggestions some following educational ways to accomplish political democracy; all of students should be taught real political problems and its relations with them in politics education,school management should be democratized,political right and freedom of school teachers to participate in political activities should be guaranteed perfectly and thoroughly
