조선조 제주교육사 형성의 동인(動因)으로서 표류에 관한 연구

The Research on Drifting for Reason of Formation in Jeju Educational History of the Joseon Dynasty

본고에서는 조선시기 제주도가 폐쇄된 섬이라는 특징과 자연환경 때문에 표류와 밀접한 관계가 있다는 것을 감안해 조선시기 제주도 교육사형성의 또 다른 중요한 동인으로서 표류의 영향이 어떻게 표현되었는지 살펴보았다.우선,제주의 지리적ㆍ환경적 특징에 대해 살피면서 제주도와 표류와의 관계에 대해 정리하였다.다음,표류인들이 남긴 표류기에 나타난 교육적 진술들과 교육적 해석이 가능한 내용들을 정리함으로써 교육에 대한 직접적인 영향을 살펴보았다.마지막으로 그러한 표류기록에 나타난 이문화접촉,이문화이해,이문화전파의 과정을 통해 제주인들의 의식변화가 어떻게 진행이 되었고 그러한 의식변화가 제주 교육에 미치는 영향에 대하여 규명하여 보았다.결론적으로 선상,과거,유배 등 위로부터,외부 로부터 주어진 수동적인 동인과 달리 표류는 제주인들에 의해 능동적으로 이루어진 것으로 교육에 대한 영향이 아래로부터,내부로부터 주었다는 점에서 다른 동인과 매우 차별적이라는 것을 알 수 있었다.또한 표류의 영향으로 형성된 교육은 지배계층에 의한 지배를 위한형식적 교육인 것이 아니라 지방 민중에 의한 민중의 삶을 위한 사회교육이었다는 특징을 발견할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the influence of drifting which are another important of the formation in the Jeju educational history during the Joseon Dynasty, considering the fact that there was a close relationship between drifting and the educational history of Jeju due to its isolation form the mainland and its natural environment. First of all, we looks for the Jeju's geographic and environmental features to find out relationship between Jeju Island and the drift. Then, organized the contents of educational interpretation and educational statements which are left by drifting peoples to find out the direct formation about education. Finally, with the drift appeared cross-cultural contact and cross-cultural understanding, cross-cultural spread, we can identify how did the Jeju people change in consciousness and formation of changes in consciousness about Jeju education. As a result, like board, past, exile which is passive from the top, from the outside is very different with the drift of Jeju people which is active by the impact on education from below, from the inside In addition, the education which is formed by influence of drift is not Formal Education for the ruling class to dominated, that is Social Education for the people's life by local people.
