분석기간에 따른 국내 정유사 휘발유가격의 비대칭성 유무 변화

The Changes of Asymmetry Degree in Korean Wholesale Gasoline Price by Sample Periods

본 연구에서는 1997년 1월 첫 번째 주에서 2009년 6월 두 번째 주까지 싱가포르 휘발유 현물가격 변동에 대한 국내 정유사 가격조정의 비대칭성 유무를 오차수정모형을 사용하여 주간 시점별로 측정하였다. 그 결과 국내 정유사 휘발유가격조정의 비대칭성은 유가자유화 초기였던 1997년에서 2001년까지의 시기 즈음에 가장 심했던 것으로 나타났고, 이후 점차적으로 감소하였다가 최근에는 국제가격의 하락이 더욱 크게 반영되는 반대-비대칭적인 성향까지 보이고 있다. 또한 유가자유화 초기의 높은 비대칭성은 이후의 시점별 비대칭성 유무에 지속적인 영향을 주고 있으며 그 기간은 2007년까지이다. 추가적으로 미화기준의 국제유가 변동과 원화 기준의 환율변동에 대한 영향을 분리·비교하였으나 국내 휘발유의 정유사 가격조정에 대한 환율의 효과는 단순히 원화로 전환되는 유가의 효과와 크게 다르지 않음을 확인하였다.

This study measures the asymmetry degree of the Korean wholesale gasoline price in the response of the Singapore spot gasoline price changes from the first week of January in 1997 to the second week of June in 2009, and investigates the changes of asymmetry due to the selection of periods using the error correction model. The degree of the asymmetry between 1997 and 2001 shows the highest level and gradually decreases. High level of asymmetry right after free pricing policy in the year 1997 continuously affects the result of asymmetry estimation by 2007. In addition, this study also investigates that the effect of exchange rate movement on the adjustments of Korean wholesale gasoline price, and finds no significantly different effect from the simple transformed-spot price from US dollar to Korean Won.
