Korea-EU FTA negotiation was begun from May 7, 2007. EU is the second largest export market for Korea after China. Korea is the first country which began to negotiate with EU among Asian countries for establishing Free Trade Agreement. Korea had finished FTA negotiations with United States of America and try to expand the markets in Europe by establishing FTA. Moreover, EU also has a strong interest in comprehensive FTA agreement that includes goods and service trade as well as Intellectual Property rights, investment and economic policy, procurement market, environment, etc. This paper was to examine the quality of agricultural products' policy, country of origin mark and geographical indication system. Geographical indication system is a system that recognizes geographical name by Intellectual Property rights when quality or taste of ( Geographical Indications ; GIs ) goods retains high fame because it is associated nearly with geographical special quality such as climate or climate of producing district. Geographical indication system is a main agenda of Korea-EU FTA negotiation as it is one of the main concerns in EU agricultural industry. In this paper, the contents of geographical indication system was explained and the prospect of negotiation in this sector was estimated.
