중도(severe)장애 유아들은 구어를 사용하는 의사소통이 어려운 경우가 많아, 보완대체 의사소통(Augmentative and Alternative Communication; 이하 AAC) 사용이 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 중도뇌성마비장애 유아가 통합된 어린이집의 대화상대자인 또래에게, AAC를 적용한 대화상대자 의사소통 중재기술을 훈련하여 실행한 또래 중재의 효과를 알아봄으로서 향후 일반 유아교육기관에 통합된 중도뇌성마비장애 유아의 교육프로그램에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 즉 대상자간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계를 사용하여, AAC를 적용한 의사소통 기술을 포함한 또래 중재의 영향을 대상 중도뇌성마비장애 유아의 행복감 발생률 증가를 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과 첫째, 본 중재는 세 명의 장애 유아의 행복감 발생률을 증가시켰다. 둘째, 본 중재의 결과 세 명의 장애 유아의 행복감 발생률은 중재가 종료된 후에도 유지되었다. 즉, 중도뇌성마비장애 유아들이 통합된 환경에서 교육받을 때 또래들에게 적절한 AAC 적용 의사소통 방법을 훈련하여 실행한 또래중재가 장애 유아들에게 의미있는 행복감 증진을 가져온다고 볼 수 있다.
This study is the systematic peer training study for peer mediated AAC intervention in inclusive preschool setting. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of AAC intervention on happiness of children with severe disabililties in inclusive free play time. Participants were 3 children with severe disabilities aged from 3 years to 4 years. Fifty nine non-disabled peers of target students' inclusive class in preschool also participated in this study. Peer training program for peer mediated intervention with AAC is the independent variable in this study. Peer traing consisted of direct teaching of 4 communication skills and feedback sessions. These 4 skills were eye-contacting, questioning, confirming target student's message, and waiting for the target student's response. Multiple probe design across subjects has been used and positive results were obtained. The rates of happiness on the children with disabilities were increased. These results suggest that peer training for peer mediated intervention with AAC can benefit successful inclusion of the children with severe disabilities. The result of this study has an important meaning for Korean AAC research due to the fact that it was done from the context inclusive preschool.
