Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP) published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is the universally recognized set of rules governing documentary credits in international commerce. The sixth version of the UCP 600 which replaces its predecessor, UCP 500 was unanimously adopted by ICC Commission on Banking Technique and Practice on October 25, 2006 and came into force on July 1, 2007. There are some changes, replacements and new provisions of UCP 600 concerning insurance documents. Importers, exporters, insurance companies, other third parties and, above all, banks should pay attention to some changes and implications of UCP 600 concerning insurance documents. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the provisions of insurance documents under UCP 600 and to examine some of the changes made and improvements of UCP 600 compared with UCP 500.
