The purpose of this study is to promote korean wine industry. The results of the research have four points. First, the European wines have been demanded continuously for a long time with its long history and tradition but as to low-price table wines they suffer from the new world wines. Meanwhile, the new world wines are taking up the world wine market with its capital power and new technology. Second, The current world wine market is characterized by reduction in consumption and oversupply, which leads to more severe competition between the new and old world wines to secure more market shares. Third, Korea is perceived as one of the most potential wine consuming markets among Asian countries and emerge as a target market of both the old and new world wines. Fourth, Almost all consumption of wines are met by imported wines. As the market grows, wine import grows too, while domestic wines decrease. However the consumption of imported wines cost a lot in terms of society, culture and economy. Therefore, it is necessary to boost Korean wine production. We need to make our own wine, which goes well with Korean food in the future. To this end, the government also needs to give financial support and develop supportive policies for the Korean wine industry.
