The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure coach`s competing values leadership and provided a criteria for coach to draw his or her leadership profile based on the Quinn`s competing values leadership theory. The competing values role of coach was divided into 8 subscale and items of each subscale was composed of 8 items to represent sport situations acording to the concept of subscale. So the primary scale was constructed by total 64 items. Data were collected for 513 athletes from 8 event. After data selection 387 athletes were analyzed. In order to confirm 8 roles and select the optimal items from the primary scale, item-to-total correlation and factor analysis were performed based on the data of 64 items questionnaire. 24 measuring items were extracted from the analysis. Again construct validity were verified by the item-to-total correlation and reliability was verified by Cronbach`s alpha based on 24 items. Criteria was computed for each subscale of role. The study could by summarized as the following: 1. Competing values leadership scale for coach composed of 24 item was developed and construct validity and reliability were verified. 2. Eight roles of coach were innovator, broker, producer, director, coordinator, monitor, facilitator, mentor. 3. Criteria was presented for each subscale for drawing coach`s leadership profile.
