This paper examines the global dimension of East production sharing. It assesses the role of production sharing on East Asian economic growth and explores the underlying connection between the global market and East Asian export-oriented economies. It shows that production sharing. either intra-regionally or extra-regionally, plays a vital role on the capacity building of East Asian exports via "dual" links between each other. However, the deep integration to the global market increases the region's vulnerability to external shocks. Accelerating technological progress and innovation could help East Asia improve its core productivity in the long run and increase its immunity.
