The life and thought of Lee, Byouk (2)-Concentrating on his Seonggyoyoji and Catholicism

This paper is designed for Korean philosophical study of theological themes, and deals with the Catholicism by Gwangam Lee Byeok, who is one of the pioneers appearing in the history of early Catholic Church in Korea. Previous works on Gwangam Lee Byeok have been attempted relatively variously in disciplines such as history, literature, theology, pedagogy. However, there has been no intensive work on his ideas on the side of philosophy, which is the basis for humanities, though his ideas' importance is great in many disciplines. Especially, the idea of Cheonju 'God,' which underlies his philosophy, is required to be explicated from the perspective of religious philosophy than any other. This study tries to systematically reconstruct his religious philosophical speculation concentrating on Seonggyoyojl; known as one of his important books, and to dedicate itself to finding the archetype of Korean theological ideology by explicating properties of his philosophy.
