누구를 경배할 것인가?

요한 묵시록이 다루는 가장 중요한 주제는 세말의 징조, 최후의 심판, 그리스도의 재림이 아니다. 가장 중요한 주제는 경배다. 시련과 박해 중에 있는 신자들을 향해서 누구를 경배할 것인지를 묻고 있는 것이다. 하느님과 주 예수 그리스도를 경배할 것인지 아니면‘그 짐승’으로 상징화 된 로마 황제 도미티안을 경배할 것인지를 묻고 있는 것이다. 요한은 공동체 구성원들이 당연히 하느님과 그리스도만을 경배하게 만들고자 묵시록을 기록했던 것이다. 묵시록 전체가 하느님 경배와 그리스도 경배를 강조하고 있지만, 특별히 묵시록 4-5장이 이 주제를 집중적으로 강조하고 있다. 묵시록 4-5장은 하늘 어좌를 둘러싸고서 천상의 무리들이 하느님과 예수 그리스도께 경배를 드리는 내용으로 구성되어 있다. 4장에서는 천상의 무리들이 하느님께 경배를 드리고 있고, 5장에서는 같은 무리들이 어린양으로 상징화된 예수 그리스도께 경배를 드리고 있다. 본 논문은 4-5장을 주석적으로 분석함으로서, 하느님을 향한 경배와 그리스도를 향한 경배의 내용이 그 주체에 따라서 서로 다름을 확인한다. 하느님은 창조주로서 경배되어지고, 그리스도는 구원자, 승리자, 성령을 보내시는 분 그리고 특별히 구원 역사의 마지막을 완성하실 분으로서 경배되어짐을 밝힌다. 그리스도를 향한 경배와 관련해서 자연스럽게 다루어지는 또 따른 주제는 그리스도론적 주제와 종말론적 주제다. 예수 그리스도께서 하느님으로부터 세상 종말에 대한 전권을 부여 받아 구원 역사를 마무리하게 될 것이란 주제다. 이 점이 논문 안에서 분석될 것이다.

The most important theme that The Revelation of John deals with is not the phenomenon of the end-time, the last judgment, the second coming of Jesus Christ. The most important theme is worship. The author of the Book(the Revelation of John) asks the believers in his community whom they decide to worship. He asks them if they worship God and the Lord Jesus Christ, or the Roman emperor Domitian symbolized by 'the beast' in chapter 11. John, the author of the book, wanted the believers in his community to choose God and the Lord Jesus Christ without hesitation. For this purpose he wrote the book. Although the entire book gives stress on the worship of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, chapters 4-5 especially emphasize the theme of the worship. Revelation 4-5 consists of the worship given by the heavenly beings who are found around the heavenly throne. In chapter 4 the heavenly beings give homage to God, and in chapter 5 the same beings give homage to Jesus Christ who are symbolized in the figure of the Lamb. This article analyzes the differences of the worship for God and for Christ. God is worshipped as the Creator, while Christ as the victor, savior, the giver of the Spirit, and especially the one who completes the salvation history. In relation to the worship of Christ, the theme of the Christology and Eschatology will be dealt with in this article. It will be analyzed that Jesus Christ, received by God the full authority over the end of the world, will close the salvation history.
