교육생산함수를 활용한 교육자원과 학업성취도의 관계 분석

The Effects of Educational Resources on Academic Achievement

본 연구에서는 교육자원이 학생들의 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 교육생 산함수를 사용하여 분석하였다. 한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단연구에서 제공하는 데이터를 활용하여 교육자원으로는 학급당 학생수, 교사의 경력․ 학력․사기 및 열의․능력 등 교사자원, 학생 1인당 교육비 또는 학생 1인 당 교수학습활동비를 변수로 포함하였고, 학생들의 학업성취도는 국어․영 어․수학의 평균 척도점수를 분석대상으로 하였다. 교육생산함수에서 학생 의 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 대표적 변수로 포함하는 학생, 또래집단, 학 교의 특징과 관련된 변수를 통제변수로 투입하였다. 분석결과 학급당 학생 수 변수, 교사자원 변수, 학생 1인당 교육비는 학업성취도에 모두 통계적으 로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않은 것으로 나타난데 비해 학생 1인당 교수학 습활동비는 학업성취도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러 한 결과는 교육자원이 학업성취도와 관련하여 더 직접적이고 효과적으로 투자될 필요성을 강조한다고 할 수 있을 것이다.

This study analyzed the effects of educational resources on academic performance, using Hierarchical Linear Modeling. It used data of Korean Education Longitudinal Study offered by Korean Educational Development Institute. Data included educational resources such as class size, teacher resources, and educational expenditures per pupil, and test scores besides data on characteristics of students, peer groups, and schools which may affect test scores according to the educational production function. This study found that class size, teacher resources, and total speding per pupil did not affect test scores, after controlling for variables of characteristics of students, peer groups, and schools. However, it found that instructional spending per pupil had a positive effects on test scores. These findings suggest that educational resources should be invested on activities related directly with activities of learning and teaching.
