Between I-novel and a Personal Novel; Kasai Zenzoand An Hoe-Nam

I-novel has been known as a unique literary genre of Japan. The similar literary genre of Japanese I-novel is Korea's Personal novel. This thesis compares with between Kasai Zenzo who is a I-novel writer that writes The sad father, Come along with children and the representative writer of personal novel, Ahn Hoe-Nam who writes The Flavor, The Hometown. First of all, the similar things are like these. First, it describes on personal matters. Second, there is no social event between both of them. Third, it describes the story of the writers and uses third person. The differences are like these First,I-novel exists synergistic interpretation between a writer and a reader that knows the details of the writer. Second, Japanese I-novelhas an explicit self confession which shows out and out private life. Third, Japanese I-novel writers tried to find out the essence of life through the separation from society. But Korean personal novel did not show that kind of effort. It tells that I-novel and Personal novel make up a self-confession and self-revealing which is prevalent during the nineteen twentieth and thenineteen thirtieth.
