A survey was carried out to investigate the health-related life style, dietary habits and associated factors of male employees. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 125 male office workers in Jeonbuk area between October 18th and 24th, 2008. The subjects were aged from 20 to 50 and 63.2% of the subjects were married and 78.2% lived with their family. 53 out of 125(42.4%) had some type of diseases, and hypertension (45.3%) was the most prevalent disease. 56.8% of the subjects reported that they drank alcohol, and among them 53.5% drank 3-4 times a week. 64.0% reported that they smoked cigarettes, and among them 53.8% said that they smoked less than one pack per day. 78.4% reported that they exercised, and among them 55.1% exercised 1-2 times per week. In terms of dietary habits of the subjects, 65.6% reported that they had three meals a day. 46.4% reported that it took 10-15 minutes to finish a meal. 28.0% reported that they ate until they felt full and 14.4% reported that they overate. 61.6% of the subjects said that they ate snacks 1-2 times a week and 62.4% reported that they dined out 2-3 times a week. While 52.0% reported that they ate mixed-rice, 48.0% said they ate white rice. 48.8% reported that they had a well balanced meal and 28.0% reported that they ate more meats and 18.4% reported that they ate more vegetables. Whereas 28.8% of the subjects thought that balanced nutrition was the most important thing when they ate, 19.2% thought that taste of food was the most important. When the associations among dietary habits, health-related life style, and general characteristics were studied, male employees who were in their 20's, lived alone, smoked, did not regularly exercise, and had some diseases showed to have a higher health risk. It would be effective to develop programs to educate people based on their individual needs.
