Problematic issues experienced by native and Korean English teachers in the process of team teaching at middle schools in Korea.

Native English teachers and Korean teachers are team-teaching English in many schools in Korea currently. The number of native English teachers will continue to increase as the Korean government plans to employ more native English teachers to assign them to schools of all levels. Team teaching by a native and a Korean English teacher can lead students to become more enthusiastic about learning English when done successfully. However, its outcome can be quite unsatisfactory when participating teachers do not or cannot work effectively for reasons related to work environment or interpersonal communication. This study aims at identifying problematic issues experienced by native and Korean middle school English teachers in the process of team teaching. A survey was conducted among 41 Korean middle school English teachers who were team-teaching with native English teachers.
