This thesis aims to introduce Milorad Pavić's literary work's in which is seen Serbian postmodernism. It is precisely this phenomenon of the increasing intrusion of the fantastic into mimetic-realistic narrative prose that characterizes the nonmimetic discourse of Serbian postmodernism. Pavić is one of it's principal representatives. Pavić's postmodern poetics appear not only in the text; they also extend to the physical book. Even though the physical appearance of a book does not belong to its structure. It is also compared the metafictional sensibilities of The Inner Side of the Wind with those of narratives which have made it possible, for critics like Brian McHale, to speak of a postmodern poetics. In an evolutionary universe the traditional dualism of idea and reality, sprit and matter, subject and object, and so on, no longer exist but is substituted by floating transitions. The shape of The Inner Side of the Wind, with its blue covers and blue sheet between its halves, is iconic and interacts with its actual structure. The central theme of Pavić's prose is the question of identity: personal, gender, religious, national, etc. The Inner Side of the Wind adds to this list identity of death, both the death of man and of woman. The Inner Side of the Wind is not only a love story either. It contains universal and philosophic themes. Pavić uses the metaphor of the inner side of the wind to underscore two kinds of relationships and dualism of East-West which runs through Serbian cultural space.
