A Study of Tea Culture on the Western Pictures of Tea in Eighteenth Century

The purpose of this article is to examine the tea culture on the western pictures of tea in eighteenth century. This paper employs two methods to examine literatures of tea trade and cultural history and the pictures of tea in eighteenth century. The result of this study provides that First of all, the pictures of tea were mainly conversation pieces and portraits. Second, most of tea pots and tea bowls are revealed chinese ones or its replica. Third, the imported tea was confirmed Japanese tea and Chinese green tea and oolong tea on the liratures and additionally confirmed the early black tea on the pictures of tea. Fourth, how to drink tea of Europe was the same as chinese way and added European manner and morality in eighteenth century.
