헝가리어 사전의 역사와 ‘헝가리어-한국어 사전’ 작업

History of Hungarian Lexicography and the 'Hungarian-Korean Dictionary'(2000)

이 논문에서는 헝가리어 사전 편찬의 역사와 어휘체계를 살펴보고, 현대 헝가리어 사전 편찬작업의 한 예로 서 2000년도에 출판된 ‘헝가리어-한국어 사전’ 작업의 과정과 내용을 소개한다. 사전편찬이 한 언어의 어휘목록을 수록하고 그 의미를 풀이하는 작업이라 할 때, 어휘목록은 역사적으로 축적되어온 결과이며, 이러한 어휘목록을 이루는 표제항의 범위는 어휘체계에 대한 이해를 전제로 사전편찬 의 목적에 의해 결정된다. 사전을 어휘항목인 표제항과 이에 대한 뜻풀이로 정의할 때, 사전작업에서 일차적인 작업은 표제항의 범위 와 선정이다. 이것은 사전의 목적과 성격(표준어 학습용 사전, 어원사전, 방언 사전 등)에 따라 결정되는데, 실제로 표준어와 방언의 구분은 명확하지 않으며, 외국어 사전의 경우에서 이러한 구분은 더욱이나 어렵기 때 문에 표제항은 기존의 사전을 모방하거나 편찬자의 우연적 선택에 의해 선정되는 것이 현실이다. 이러한 문제 를 해소하기 위해서는 언어의 역사와 어휘체계에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 사전의 목적을 분명히 해야한다. 이 논문에서는 특정 헝가리어 사전을 자세히 소개하기보다는 헝가리어 사전편찬의 역사와 어휘체계를 살 펴보고, 현대 헝가리어 사전 편찬작업의 한 예로서 2000년도에 출판된 ‘헝가리어-한국어 사전’ 작업을 하면 서 기본 자료로 사용한 네 가지 사전 ’Magyar értelmező kéziszótár(헝가리어 풀이 사전)‘ ‘Magyar-német kéziszótár(헝가리어-독일어 사전)‘, ’Magyar angol kéziszótár(헝가리-영어 사전)’, 그리고 헝가리와 북한의 공동 작업에 의해 출판된 ’Magyar-koreai szótár(웽조사전)‘과 ’헝가리어-한국어 사전(magyar-koreai kéziszótár)‘의 내용을 소개하고, 이 작업과정에서 느낀 몇 가지 문제에 대해 언급하였다.

This paper aims to understand on account of hungarian historical lexicography the development of the whole system of hungarian vocabularies, and also to show the working process of the 'Hungarian-Korean Dictionary'(2000) which is the latest published bilingual dictionary of hungarian. Lexicography is a storing work of the whole vocabulary of a language, which consists of two part: headword part and sense part. The headword part as one of the main entry is based on this historical development of the whole vocabulary. To establish the list of headword, it is important to understand the system of vocabulary and its components and to clarify the aims of the dictionary related with its users and its object. The first step of working process of a dictionary is to decide the categories and volume of dictionary and to list up headword according to its aim and its properties(dictionary of standard language, dialects, etymology etc). On case of bilingual dictionaries, it is difficult to list up categories of headword, so that it comes frequently to take up the headword of existing dictionaries or arbitrary selection of words. To tackle these difficulties, we have to clarify the aim of the dictionary based on the history of language and its vocabulary system. Firstly introducing the history of hungarian lexicography and its vocabulary system, I describe some important aspects of four hungarian bilingual dictionaries, 'hungarian-hungarian dictionary', 'hungarian-german dictionary', 'hungarian-english dictionary', and 'hungarian-korean dictionary(1957)'. The working process of the 'hungarian-korean dictionary'(2000) is based on these four main dictionaries. Finally I comment on some lexiographical aspects and problems of 'Hungarian and Korean dictionary'
